Plymouth slid past conference foe Monroeville in the District Semifinal game 9-8 with some big play from their bats.

 

Things started off slow for the Lady Big Red as they had a 1-2-3 inning to start off and the rival Eagles would capitalize, scoring one in the bottom of the first on an RBI single to center field. Plymouth would then go on to take the lead in the next inning on a huge 2 run home run from Jayline Branham. It wouldn’t take long for the Eagles to answer as in the bottom of the second they would get back on the board with an RBI single to bring the score to 3-2. Plymouth would end up tying things back up on an RBI double from Morgan Hars but Monroeville quickly took the lead again with a score from Lydia Landoll 4-3 at the end of the 3rd.

 

The next few innings both teams took turns trading punches and eventually after 5 innings Monroeville would have the edge 8-6. That wouldn’t stop the Lady Big Red as Irven would hit a double into the gap that would score 2 and tie us up at 8-8 in the top of the 6th. Plymouth would get out of the bottom half of the inning with three quick outs. In the top of the 7th The Lady Big Red would score once again on a fielder's choice to give them the lead heading into the bottom of the 7th 9-8. Plymouth would end things on 2 ground outs and a pop fly that would solidify them with a spot in the District Finals on Friday vs. Mohawk.
