Class of 2020 Senior Showcase

With Covid-19 playing villain throughout the sports world, seniors in the surrounding counties got to play in the Class of 2020 baseball Senior Showcase. The Galion Graders hosted the "Farewell Game" at Heise Park which included players from Mansfield Senior, Shelby, Northmor, Colonel Crawford, Wynford and plenty more area programs. It was awesome for seniors to get out on the diamond for the last time in their high school careers.
Blaise Caudill, the games MVP and a Shelby Whippets senior said “I feel great about this and I’m honored to play with these kids one last time. It means a lot it really does.” Caudill went 3-3 from the dish with 2 RBI, also throwing 4 innings of scoreless ball with 5 strikeouts.
Tiffin University-bound All-Ohioan Gavin Feichtner from Colonel Crawford pitched a near flawless relief inning in the eighth, and had this to say about the event. “It’s great you know, it was fun to get back out one last time.”
The East walked away with a 9-5 victory in eight innings to make way for a fireworks display, but the showcase was more than just wins and losses. It was about giving these players one last chance to go against one another as prep athletes.
During these times we're facing in Ohio, it’s nice to take a step back to relax and have some fun. All who participated in the Senior Showcase from players to coaches and fans shared a nice collective breath of summer enjoyment. These kids didn’t want anything more than to step on the diamond one more time and what better day than America's birthday to get your last shot as the class of 2020.
