Week 9  Copeland Field at Niss Stadium

Pleasant  vs   Ontario

Pleasant Handles Ontario 50-21

Marion Pleasant kept its home playoff hopes alive handling Ontario 50-21 on the road.

The Spartans (7-2) opened the scoring on defense just two plays into the game after forcing an Ontario 13-yard loss on the first play from scrimmage, followed by a botched snap in the endzone for a safety and a 2-0 lead.

Pleasant then scored its first touchdown two possessions later on an Austin Shaffer 7-yard run making it 9-0 before Patrick Blubaugh added another 7-yard run making it 16-0 Spartans after one.

Blubaugh and Shaffer then set up another score in the second as Blubaugh ran 27 yards to the Ontario 2-yard-line setting up Shaffer for the score and a 23-0 advantage. The Warriors then got on the board the ensuing possession as Brock Hill threw a screen pass to
Owen Hatfield, who ran 93 yards for the score, cutting the deficit to 23-7.

The rushing attack of Shaffer and Blubaugh then reversed roles on its next possession as Shaffer ran 38 yards to the Ontario 3 setting up a Blubaugh score. Blubaugh then added his third rushing TD of the half from a yard out after a Pleasant interception making it 37-7 at the break.

Both teams would exchange a pair of second half touchdowns to round out the scoring, as the bulk of the damage was done over the first two quarters of action.

Blubaugh finished the night with over 200 yards rushing and 5 touchdowns and added an interception on defense. His 7-2 Spartans will look to lock up a home playoff game on Friday when they host 8-1 Galion.

The Warriors (2-7) take to the road for its final game of the season at Harding (3-6).
