Clear Fork  vs  Shelby

Whippets Take MOAC With Win Over Colts

Shelby clinched an outright MOAC Championship with a 35-25 victory over Clear Fork in their regular season finale at Skiles Field.

The Colts (6-4) had an opportunity to earn a piece of the league title and clinch a playoff berth with a win, and came stampeding out of the gates to a 12-0 advantage.  Brennan South connected with Gabe Blauser for an 81-yard strike to opening the scoring then hooked up with Elijah Hughes for a 14-yard TD but missed both PAT's.

The Whippets answered with a pair of TD drives of their own, ending with an Austin Gray 3-yard TD grab and 1-yard Owen Fisher run into paydirt. The teams would trade short scoring runs to close out the half with Shelby on top 21-18.

Clear Fork regained the lead 25-21 with South running in his second 1-yard score late in the 3rd, but would be held off the scoreboard for the rest of the night.

A key fourth down conversion would end with McGwire Albert breaking the pylon for a 12 yard TD run to give Shelby a 28-25 advantage early in the 4th, then had their defense step up with a couple of big stops. Fisher then closed out the win with a 16-yard scamper into the end zone with 1:20 remaining to seal the conference title with a 35-25 victory.

Fisher finished the game with 34 carries for 193 yards and 3 TD's, with Albert completing 14 passes for 81 yards and ran for 65 yards on a dozen carries. South led the Colts with 194 yds and 2 TD's through the air, adding 25 yards and 2 more scores on the ground.

Shelby (7-3) clinches a home playoff game with the win while Clear Fork (6-4) will await their postseason fate.
