OLIVESBURG - The South Central Trojans solidified itself as the second-best team in the Firelands Conference knocking off Crestview 60-56 in overtime.

 

The Trojans (13-2, 9-2 FC) jumped out to a 13-9 lead after one before the Cougars (10-5, 6-4 FC) battled back with a strong second quarter as Evan Hamilton surpassed the 1,000 point mark for his career and then hit a tough shot from beyond the arc at the buzzer to give Crestview a 30-28 lead at the break.

 

The two squads played to an even third quarter and went back-and-fourth throughout the fourth with the Cougars holding possession with under a minute remaining. Instead of waiting till the final seconds to attempt a shot, they missed and lost possession with 11 seconds remaining giving South Central a chance at the win in regulation. David Lamoreaux, the Trojans 1,000 point scorer, drove the lane with time running out and was fouled with 2.9 seconds remaining, but missed both free throws sending the game to overtime tied at 50.

 

South Central then pulled away in the extra stanza outscoring Crestview 10-6 for the victory.

 

The trojans were led by Lamoreaux's 20 point effort while Isaac Blair also scored in double figures with 11 points.

 

The Cougars were led by Hamilton's game high 25 points while Heath Kash followed with 9 points.
