Tygers Crack Arrows 56-21 To Remain Undefeated
The Mansfield Senior Tygers continued to impress as they pulled away from the Ashland Arrows 56-21 on Homecoming.
The game was back-and-forth through 2 1/2 quarters as the #7-ranked Tygers (6-0) took the opening kickoff and drove the field resulting in an Angelo Grose 7-yard touchdown reception from Cam Todd
making it 7-0.
The Arrows (2-5) answered on its opening drive as QB Mitch Heilman found Cade McQuate for a 24-yard pitch and catch to even the score at 7.
Mansfield Senior answered back on the ensuing possession as Amajeon Robertson ran in from a yard out to get the lead back at 14-7.
The Tygers then got the ball back and extended its lead to 21-7 on Cam Todd's second touchdown pass of the evening, a 22-yard toss to Aveon Grose.
Ashland answered, yet again, as McQuate hauled in his second touchdown catch of the night from 10 yards out cutting the lead to 21-14, but Mansfield Senior got the final score of the half on a Terrance Flickinger 20-yard run making it 28-14 Tygers at the break.
The Arrows got the first points of the second half midway through the third quarter on a Heilman 1-yard run making it a seven-point game, once again, but the Tygers had an immediate answer on the ensuing kickoff as Angelo Grose took the kick 82 yards to the house starting a 28-0 second-half run to put the game away.
Both quarterbacks were effective in the game as Todd was 20-of-23 for 238 yards and 3 touchdowns while Heilman was 23-of-28 for 202 yards, 2 touchdowns and an interception.
The Tygers dropped to #2 in the Division 3, Region 10 rankings after the victory, but should get the top spot back if they can defeat 4-3 Wooster in Week 8.
The Arrows drop to #16 in Division 3, Region 10 and will head to 2-5 Lexington on Friday.
