Vikings Row To 2-0 With 25-14 Win At Clear Fork

By Brian Skowronski

BELLVILLE, OH- River Valley didn't enter the 2020 season touted as one of the favorites to win the MOAC championship, but an impressive 25-14 victory over Clear Fork in Bellville has the Vikings at 2-0 with wins over the Colts and Galion Tigers.

The Vikings ran up 396 total yards of offense, with sophomore quarterback Cayden Shidone throwing for 193 of those with 2 touchdowns and 2 interceptions. Luke Rogers had a pair of River Valley TD runs with the first coming on a 75-yard scamper at the 7:18 mark of the opening quarter for a 7-0 lead. The Colts would answer back just over a minute later when Brady Tedrow hooked up with Ethan Staley on a 32-yard strike to even the score, but the Vikings would control most of the action from that point forward.

Dylan Johnson hauled in a 3-yard TD grab with 2:11 remaining before the half, then Karson Lang delivered a gut punch one-minute later on a 74-yard catch and run to give RV a 19-7 halftime edge. Rogers added his second rushing TD on a 14-yard scamper late in the third to extend the Vikings edge before Tedrow tacked on a Colts rush TD in the fourth to round out the scoring.

Next up for River Valley (2-0) is a home matchup vs Ontario (0-2) while Clear Fork (0-2) will host Galion (1-1).
