MANSFIELD vs ONTARIO
2-19-2019 The "O-Rena" at Balogh Court
Tygers Outlast 52-49 Slugfest At Ontario
It was the definition of an “ugly win” for Mansfield Senior in a 52-49 battle at the O-Rena against a streaking Ontario bunch, shaking off a tough shooting night to end the Warriors 7-game win streak.
The Tygers (16-4) led for most of the night, riding senior De’Zion Taylor’s efficient opening half to a slim 21-19 advantage. Taylor dropped 8 of his 10 points in the first two frames before fellow senior guard Quan Hilory got things going in half number two.
Hilory cashed in for a team-best 13 points, all coming I the second half as Senior High maintained a 40-37 cushion heading into the fourth before Ontario (13-7) found their stride. A Warriors spurt, fueled Kolten Kurtz and Shaquan Coburn, who combined for 27 points, briefly saw the Warriors out in front past the midway point of the final frame.
Senior High finally capitalized on an offensive rebound by Jakobe Reese in the closing minutes to secure a hard fought win after shooting just 12-40 (30%) inside the arc for the contest. In victory, Hilory received the honorary T-Y “Hustle Chain” for his gutsy performance in the locker room after the game.
