Tygers Roar Past Lexington 54-46

After a rough patch in the middle of their season, Mansfield Senior is beginning to find their mojo with a 54-46 win over Lexington at their place to secure a third straight OCC victory.

The Minutemen (11-7) handled the Tygers defensive pressure to start the game, putting together an 11-3 first quarter run to lead 13-9 headed into the second. Mansfield Senior (7-9) would answer back with an 11-2 run of the own, though, outscoring Lex 15-7 in the quarter to own a 24-20 advantage at the break.

During halftime, 2019 graduate, and current Ohio State Buckeye, Cade Stover, was inducted into Lexington's athletic Hall of Fame for his stellar career on the football field and the basketball hardwood. In an interview with OH.Report, 2018's Mr. Football said his alma mater needed to limit turnovers in order to get a win, but the Minutemenwould fail to handle Senior High's press.

The Tygers would force 16 Lexington giveaways on the night, converting those into 13 points at the offensive end as they edged the Minutemen 14-13 in the third, then put the game away with a pair of D'Angelo Chapman buckets and five free throws from Roger Merrell III in the closing minutes.

Merrell was awarded the "T-Y Hustle Belt" for his performance, which included a game-best 22 points on 7-11 shooting with 6 rebounds. Davin Brown poured in nine Tygers pts, while Trevin Hines scored six and Shad Creamer added five.

Lexington got a big offensive night from Dylan Spears who dropped 21 pts on 7-12 FG's, with Max Waldruff going 4-5 for nine pts and Danny Shaffer contributing with six.
