Tygers Beat Lex, Tie For OCC Lead

Lexington entered their second matchup of the season against cross-county rival Mansfield Senior with a chance to clinch an outright OCC championship, but a stellar defensive performance helped the Tygers earn a 61-51 victory to tie for the top spot in the league standings.

Quan Hilory fueled Senior High early, scoring 17 of his game-best 18 points in the opening half with Jakobee Reese adding 12 and 8 rebounds. The Tygers led 31-26 at the break and built on their advantage by pressuring the Minutemen into 18 turnovers which led to 11 points.

Lexington (15-5, 9-2) star senior Cade Stover was in foul trouble throughout the night, finishing with 14 points and 13 rebounds before fouling out with three minutes remaining in the contest. Kyle Johnston also dropped 14 for the Minutemen while Josh Aiello added 10 to keep Lex within striking distance until Mansfield put the contest out of reach from the free throw line in the final minute.

The Tygers (15-4, 9-2) finish the season at home against Ashland with a chance to win a share of the OCC while the Minutemen will try to get a share of the league crown when they play at Wooster.
