LEXINGTON  vs  MOUNT VERNON

12-7-2018     "The Hive"

Stover Makes History But Jackets Get The Win

Much was at stake inside “The Hive” for Mount Vernon’s conference opener against defending league champion Lexington where the Minutemen saw their history books rewritten while the Jackets defended home court with a 55-48 victory.

After a slow offensive start for both teams, finishing the first quarter with Mount Vernon in front 6-5, both sides found their rhythm at some point in the contest. The score was tied 20-20 at the break before the Jackets outscored Lex 17-11 in the third and held off a late Minutemen charge by draining eight clutch free throws down the stretch to secure the win.

Lexington senior forward Cade Stover became the programs all-time leading scorer, passing Dale Ford with a game-high 17 points to go along with 8 rebounds and 3 assists. Stover is also the Minutemen’s career rebounding leader and still has 19 more regular season games scheduled.
