
Trojans To Defend District, Ground Flyers
The defending Willard District Champions will get a chance to defend their title as South Central made their way into the D4 final with a 47-36 win over Firelands Conference rival Norwalk St. Paul.
The intensity was evident on both sides with stand out defensive efforts leading to a low scoring halftime total of 19-18 in favor of the Trojans. The third quarter was mostly a stalemate of traded buckets that saw the Flyers behind 29-27 with the game approaching the last eight minutes.
David Lamoreaux came through with a timely 3-pointer and two-handed slam to give South Central a boost before Jackson McCormack wrapped-up a spot in the championship with a monster triple. SC would outscore St. Paul 18-9 in the fourth for the right to face #1 Lucas (24-1) in the District Final.
Simon Blair led all scorers for the Trojans (21-3) with 16 points followed by Lamoreaux's 10, Jackson McCormack had 9 and Sam Seidel 8 pts. Nate Winslow and Brandon Furlong each scored 10 pts to pace the Flyers who wrap their season at 16-9.
