St. Peter’s took Mansfield Christian’s best shot in a rivalry showdown between the two Mansfield schools, surviving a tough 60-52 battle against the struggling Flames.

 

Coming off their only win of the season, Mansfield Christian (1-11, 0-5) hung with the four-time defending Mid-Buckeye Conference champs in the first half, as Jared Mount’s team-best 14 points helped the Flames enter the halftime locker room tied at 23 apiece.

 

The third quarter is where the Spartans (7-5, 4-1) made their move, outscoring MC 20-12 in the frame to hold a 43-35 edge heading into the final quarter of action. Both Caleb Stewart and Luke Henrich played key scoring roles in the second half for St. Peter’s, combining for 40 points in the contest to help Sparty close out a tough rivalry victory.
