Spartans Late Surge Tames Bulldogs

A close game between St. Peter's and Crestline at the Franciscan Activity Center saw the Spartans split their season series with the Dogs behind a late fourth quarter surge for a 44-36 victory.

St. peter's (5-12) started the contest with a strong opening quarter, leading 14-6 entering the second as senior forward Jonah Ramey scored half of the Spartans points in the first. Crestline (9-10) then made a 16-6 run with Ethan Clark scoring all six of his points in the second stanza to lift the Bulldogs to a 22-20 healftime advantage.

The Mid-Buckeye Conference foes would then head into the final eight minutes of action all square at 27-27 after St. Peter's edged the Dogs 7-5 in a slow-paced third quarter. Back and forth play would see the teams even until the last few minutes where the Spartans took control to close out just their third win since mid-December.

Ramey led all scorers with 20 pts, getting 10 from teammate Eli Gurski and eight points by Shawn Perkins-Harris. Kaden Ronk carried the scoring load for Crestline, dropping 15 pts including all nine for the Dogs in the fourth.
