Wild 4th Gives Trojans 67-61 OT Win vs Crestview
GREENWICH -- An awesome seesaw finish saw South Central escape OT with a 67-61 win over Crestview in a matchup between 4-0 Firelands Conference title contenders.
David Lamoreaux and Jackson McCormack got the Trojans (5-0,4-0) off to a sizzling start with 17 combined first quarter points to build a 24-12 lead before the Cougars (4-1,1-1) clawed their way back within 28-21 by the halftime horn with Evan Hamilton outscoring SC by himself 6-4 in the second.
Hamilton continued his hot play on the offensive end, pacing Crestview with a game-high 25 points though it felt as though the Trojans would pull away with a hot start to the fourth, extending their 39-35 third quarter edge to double-figures in the fourth. The Cougars would go on a tear down the stretch to seize a three-point advantage with just 2.5 seconds remaining before Lamoreaux tipped-in a bucket at the final horn off a missed free throw to send the game into overtime.
