The third-seeded Lady Whippets got pushed by a game Lexington squad who forced overtime in the D2 Bucyrus Sectional Final, but Shelby outlasted #9 Lady Lex 52-48 for the title.

 

The opening half saw Lexington jump out to a 13-8 first quarter advantage as the Lady Whippets trailed 26-22 at the break with junior guard Gabby Stover pouring in 13 of her game-best 22 points in the first two quarters of action. Shelby came out of the half and dominated the third quarter, however, outscoring Lady Lex15-3 in the frame to take the lead, but Lexington would force overtime with the game knotted up at 42 apiece.

 

A 10-6 overtime margin for the Lady Whippets would then prove to be the difference, as junior Emma Randall dropped a team-high 19, with freshman Sophia Niese adding 12 and Bailey Walter nine points.

 

Shelby (22-2) now advances to face #2 Willard, who blitzed Madison 69-49 in their sectional final, in the Galion District Semifinals.
