   SHELBY vs LEXINGTON

Division II Sectional Championship

Shelby KO's Lexington For Sectional Title

Shelby cut down the nets as Division II Sectional Champions at Monroeville High School with a 67-42 blowout of cross-county rival Lexington in a contest that felt out of reach for most of the night.

A fast start laid the groundwork to victory for the second-seeded Lady Whippets who despite losing two starters to injury during their regular season finale, jumped out to an 11-4 first quarter advantage. A scoring barrage in the following frame mixed with an aggressive defensive performance then increased Shelby's lead to 35-13 by the half as Youngstown State commit Emma Randall would join the 1,000 points club, becoming just the fourth Lady Whippets player to eclipse that mark as she posted 18 points in the game

Shelby (22-1) then outscored #6 Lexington (15-9) 21-9 in the third for a commanding 56-24 margin with the Baker twins leading the way by dropping a combined 59 points while Olivia scoring a game-best 24 pts on 8-13 FG's while Haylee added 18 pts.. Head coach Natalie Lantz then enjoyed a birthday coast to the sectional final in the fourth as her Lady Whippets locked up the title.

Gabby Stover had an impressive performance in her final high school game with 18 pts as front court mate Avery Coleman put up 14 to pace the Lady Lex scoring attack.

Shelby now advances to face bitter rival Willard in a District semifinals rematch at Ashland after the 3rd-seeded Flashes destroyed Mansfield Senior 51-11 in their sectional final.
