Shelby Boys Win Division II
State Track & Field Championship

The Shelby Whippets took home the Division II state title in boys track on June 1st at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium in Columbus with a winning margin of 57-42 over defending champion Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy.

The Whippets 4x800 relay team took home gold with a time of 7:45:15, while Blake Lucius won the individual 800 with a time of 1:53.58.

 

Caleb Brown took double gold in 1,600 with a time of 4:16.56 and 3,200, while also nailing the best D2 3,200 time in Ohio with 9:29.58. 

 

Uriah Schwemley would match his 2018 state title-winning height in the high jump with 6'-6" taking third-place in the event, and Sam Logan would give Shelby another 11 points with his third-place showing in the 1,600 and fourth place finish in the 3,200. 

The state championship is the third for the Whippets boys track program to go along with their team title-winning performances in 2003 and 2004.
