Richland County Regional Final Preview

The Mansfield Senior Tygers and Lucas Cubs will be playing for regional championships this weekend.


In Division 3, Region 10 the second-seeded Tygers (11-1) get a week 5 rematch with fifth-seeded
Sandusky (9-3) on Friday at 7:00 PM at Clyde High School.


The Blue Streaks defeated fourth-seeded Buckeye 20-14 in the quarterfinal then knocked off top-seeded
Norwalk 31-15 last Friday in the semifinal to get revenge from their 37-20 loss at Norwalk in week 7.
The Tygers shut out seventh-seeded Bay 28-0 in the quarterfinal before holding off sixth-seeded Holy
Name 45-30 last week in the semifinal.


Mansfield Senior defeated Sandusky 21-14 in week 5 as the Tygers scored 21 unanswered points after
the Blue Streaks scored on the third play of the game. Sandusky added a touchdown with 30 seconds
left in the game to complete the scoring.


The winner of this game will move on to the Division 3 State Final Four next Friday at a site to be
determined by the OHSAA.


In Division 7, Region 25 the second-seeded Lucas Cubs (10-2) take on defending regional champion
Cuyahoga Heights (10-1) on Saturday at 7:00 PM at Northwest High School.


The top-seeded Redskins handled eighth-seeded Malvern 49-6 in the quarterfinal before knocking off
fifth-seeded John F Kennedy 33-14 in the semifinal.
The Cubs held off seventh-seeded McDonald 21-20 in overtime in the quarterfinal before shutting down
sixth-seeded St. Thomas Aquinas 35-21 in the semifinal.


Cuyahoga heights has won a regional championship in three of the past four years and the Region 25
championship the past two seasons.


The winner of this game will move on to the Division 7 State Final Four next Saturday at a site to be
determined by the OHSAA.
