Massillon Runs By Perry To Regional Championship

For the fourth consecutive season, the Massillon Tigers will play in the State Final Four after running away from their cross-city rivals Perry with a 43-13 win in the D2 Region 7 Championship.

The top-seeded Panthers (9-1) played ball control football in the opening half, limiting the number of possessions for an explosive #2 Tigers (9-1) offensive arsenal. Perry led 6-0 after the first quarter but a 72-yard TD bomb to Jayden Ballard in the second would provide Washington with a spark that carried them the rest of the night as they took the lead for good.

Tigers QB Zach Catrone went a perfect 10-for-10 through the air for 234-yards and 3 scores, all hauled in by Ballard who finished the game with 150 receiving yards on seven catches. Willtrell Hartson also had a big night for the Massillon offense, racking up 111 yards rushing and two TD's as the Tigers threw up 36 points in the second half after holding a slim 7-6 advantage at the half.

Next up for Massillon is a rematch of last year's D2 State Championship vs Cincinnati La Salle (8-2), who beat the Tigers for the 2019 state title.
