Warriors Kick Off Baseball Season With 1st Win

Defeat Norwalk 8-7 In Extra Innings

NORWALK ---  Ontario Warriors kicked off their spring sports season in good fashion, knocking off the Norwalk Truckers 8-7 in extra innings.

Both teams through the first few innings struggled to put ducks on the pond.

Ontario would have a keen eye at the plate as Carter Weaver took ball 4 to get himself and RBI and get the Warriors on the board.

In the same inning Drew Yetter would get an RBI single to help the Warriors on the scoreboard 2-0 in the 4th.

The Truckers would capitalize in the same inning as Ian Minor would get them on the board.

Norwalk would stay fresh at the plate as they got another run to tie things all up at 2 a piece.

Drew Yetter would get a walk for another RBI as the Warriors took the lead 3-2 in the 5th. Caden Armstrong would do the same and get Ontario another run to touch home plate.

4-2 was the lead Ontario held after the 5th inning. Colten Ramion would get an RBI single and send Gage Weaver across the plate to get their lead to 3 in the 6th inning. Norwalk would need a big 7th inning and that is exactly what they got.

Sam Battles had an RBI single to scrape at the lead and make it 3-5. Eli Obringer poked one into centerfield and scored 2 runs to tie things all up. We would go to extras as both sides scored in the final inning.

Ontario’s Owen Hatfield had an RBI bunt to send Caden Armstrong in for the lead, however the Warriors would continue to tack on runs in the 10th.

Gage Weaver had an RBI triple and Ryan Chapman had a sac fly to give the Warriors a 8-5 cushion.

Norwalk wouldn’t go out quietly as they got some help from Caleb Sommers who added a 2 run RBI single but it wouldn’t be enough for the Truckers.

Ontario would prevail in extras 8-7.

ONTARIO: 8 runs, 10 hits, 2 errors

NORWALK: 7 runs, 8 hits, 3 errors
