DEFIANCE --- The Hilltop Cadets will play for its first Regional Championship in school history after holding off Mohawk 7-5.

 

The Lady Warriors struck first in the bottom of the first on two big hits as Bailey Sheets hit a one-out double which was followed by an Aubrie Harper two-run home run for a 2-0 lead.

 

The Lady Cadets answered in the top of the second thanks to three Mohawk errors as Lana Baker scored on a Leanna Baker RBI double, she then scored on a fielding error. Joscelyn Layman then scored on a groundout for a 3-2 lead.

 

Hilltop then added another in the fourth on a Hannah Riley RBI single to make it 4-2, but the Lady Warriors immediately answered on a Joselyn Eader solo home run to left to cut the lead back to one at 4-3.

 

The Lady Cadets added two more in the fifth on a throwing error for its largest lead of the day at, 6-3, but Mohawk would again chip away with a run in the fifth and sixth innings on RBI by Eader and Paityn Clouse.

 

Hilltop then closed the scoring in the top of the seventh when Leanna Baker tripled and scored on a passed ball.
