Flyers Get By Polar Bears 61-55
WILLARD -- #3 St. Paul would take down #2 Margaretta for the right to play Lucas in the Division IV Willard District championship, sinking the Polar Bears 61-55.
Early on both teams struggled from the field but it would be the Flyers finding their footing first taking a 29-16 first half las the Polar Bears failed to score a single made three in the first half. St. Paul also took advantage of a huge rebounding advantage getting point-blank shots off offensive rebounds before Margaretta started to take control in the third.
The Polar Bears began connecting from long range and playing their brand of basketball in the second half, forcing St. Paul to make adjustments on defense. which ending up weathering some of the storm and slowing down the Polar Bears attack. The end of the contest is where things got really interesting as Margaretta found a way to close the gap to 4 points in crunch time, but ultimately with some excellent free throw shooting from Nate Winslow ,the Flyers pulled out a victory to advance into Friday's final.
Your player of the game brought to you by Frito-Lay was Scotty Adelman who dropped in 16 points and helped St.Paul upset the Polar Bears to advance into the programs first district final since 2010.
