ONTARIO -- A cross town rivalry saw Mansfield Senior travel to the O-Rena where Ontario would eventually prevail 65-54 over the Tygers.

 

It was a back and forth affair through the first 2 quarters as Kolton Kurtz carried the Warriors until star guard Griffin Shaver erupted for a game-high 32 points. The Tygers struggled to guard behind the arc as Kurtz and Shaver combined for 45 of Ontario’s 65.

 

The 3rd quarter was where The Warriors began to assert some dominance. Ontario would go on a 23-14 run to create enough separation to keep the Tygers in their cage. Shaver dropped 24 pts over the last two frames, helping build a 46-35 edge headed into the fourth where Ontario would continue to be in command as they kept their foot on the gas and finished off the visiting Tygers by double-digits.

 

The contest could be a future tournament matchup, but Round 1 belonged to the blue and gold.
