Lady Tygers Advance By Clear Fork

To Sectional Final

BELLVILLE ---  An awesome opening round tournament contest saw #7 Mansfield Senior advance with a 53-48 win at #6 Clear Fork for a spot in the Division II Sectional Championship.

 

The Lady Tygers (10-11) exploded out of the gates for a quick lead, but found themselves trailing by double-figures in the second quarter before going on a tear to end the half. Senior High scored 16 consecutive points to overtake the Lady Colts (7-15) for the lead, ending the first half on a 10-0 run to see the score even at 20-20.

 

The score would again be even at the end of three quarters at 34-34 with the lead going back and forth for much of the second half. Clear Fork center Bekah Conrad would dominate the paint with a game-high 26 points, but it was the youthful Tygers who made the clutch plays down the stretch to move on in tourney play.

 

Ahmani Mitchell earned Mechanics Bank Player of the Game honors by scoring eight of her nine points in the final quarter, also playing tough defense on Conrad in the closing minutes to help secure a Tygers victory.
