In an intense Week 1 battle at Arlin Field, Mansfield Senior protected their home turf with a valuable 21-10 win over highly touted Norwalk.

The Tygers took a 7-3 lead into the second quarter with Clay Caudill catching a 53 yard score to put Senior High out in front. Amajeon Robertson then gave Mansfield a 14-3 advantage on a 3 yard scamper into paydirt before the Truckers made a huge play just before the half when Jake Sommers returned an interception 81 yards back for a score to make it 14-10.

That would be the only points Norwalk would produce in the game, though, as the Tygers defense picked off Truckers QB Garrison Smith twice, including a 49-yard pick-6 by senior Cyrus Ellerbe to start the fourth quarter. Norwalk also hurt themselves with 144 penalty yards, only rushing for 102 yards against the stout Senior High defense in the contest.
