Join WMAD reporter Grayce Stone as she takes a look back at Madison Comprehensive High School's football season opener against traditional Week 1 rival Shelby.

 

The Rams would lose the game 50-20, but showed some promise, particularly early in the contest. A long touchdown run by Jamaal Coleman on the first play from scrimmage combined with a successful onside kick helped Madison build a 14-0 edge less than 4 minutes in, but the Whippets would take over the game from there.

 

Junior running back Owen Fisher ripped off 4 touchdown runs, compiling nearly 220 yards on the ground while senior QB McGwire Albert added a rushing and throwing score the Hungry Hounds to run away with a victory.

 

Next up, the Rams will head to River Valley seeking their first win while Shelby hosts Lexington in their home opener in Week 2.
