In Girls Hoops Season Opener

The Shelby girls basketball team has high expectations for the new season and they proved to be a strong team in their opener at Madison, crushing the Lady Rams 72-34.

Senior SG Emma Randall was a standout, scoring seven of her game-best 23 points in the first quarter to help the Lady Whippets build a 17-8 cushion. Shelby added 19 more points in the second, ballooning their advantage to 36-18 by the half as Olivia Baker dropped a pair of triples in the frame.

Coming out of the break, Shelby proved their dominance with a 24-7 edge in the 3rd quarter before coasting to a 38-point victory to kick off their campaign.

Haylee Baker joined Randall in double-figure scoring with 14, as Selene Perez and Mackenna Keiser each chipped-in with eight points. Jenna Wigton paced Madison with 11 points, followed by Chesney Davis with seven and Kari Eckenwiller with six.
