For the Lucas football program, a trip to the Final Four is a dream that's been building for close to a decade. The Cubs have been knocking on the door to state, but finally broke through with the program's first Regional Championship in 2019.
Head coach Scott Spitler has built a winning culture that includes six straight postseason trips with a group of athletes that have bought into the tradition. That mixed with a challenging regular season schedule that saw Lucas travel all over the Buckeye state has combined to produce the best playoff run the school has ever experienced.
With the support of the local community, stretching out to Richland County and beyond, the 11-2 Cubs are heading into their Division VII State Semifinal showdown vs Canal Winchester Harvest Prep (12-1) knowing they have what it takes to win on the big stage. The only thing left for Lucas to do is continue building on the success they helped develop as they continue their journey towards a State Championship season.
