Lexington vs Sandusky
Division II District Championship
Stover Lifts Lexington Over Sandusky To Regionals
For a third consecutive season, Lexington and Sandusky met to decide a Division II District Champion with the Minutemen taking the rubber match 64-53.
Third-seeded Lexington got a monster performance from junior forward Cade Stover who dominated from start to finish with 27 points on 9/16 field goals, grabbed 12 rebounds and blocked 4 shots. Along with fellow junior Josh Aiello, who delivered a 15 point, 10 rebound double-double of his own, the Minutemen led 17-11 after the first quarter, 23-14 at the break and were never challenged again by the Blue Streaks.
A 9-0 Sandusky run in the opening frame gave the 4th-seeded Blue Streaks a brief edge, led by sophomore guard Dylon Jones with a team-best 18 pts and senior guard Keith Williams with 15 pts and 6 rebs, but they shot just 19-64 (29%) from the field as a team.
Lexington (21-5) will next move on to the Bowling Green State University Regionals to face Division II AP poll champion Wauseon (25-0) at 8 pm on March 15.
