 Div III Region 10 Quarterfinals

Lexington Keeps Streaking Past Columbian Into Week 12

The amazing second half surge for the Lexington football program continued to pick up steam in their opening round playoff matchup at Tiffin Columbian as the 7th-seeded Minutemen knocked out the #2 Tornados 31-21.

Lexington extended their winning streak to six with the Week 11 road victory and never trailed in their double-digit triumph over Columbian (8-3). As he has been throughout the Minutemen’s hot streak, Ohio State commit Cade Stover was dominant on both sides of the ball, rushing 29 times for 170 yards and 2 scores while also leading the team in tackles and intercepting a pair of Tornados pass attempts.

Alex Green also maintained his high impact play with 170 rushing yards on 18 attempts that included a key 86-yd scoring run late in the third quarter along with a 4th quarter red zone interception that ended Columbian’s comeback pursuit. As a team, Lexington intercepted Tornado’s quarterback Chase Frankhauser five times after the junior only threw six picks during the regular season.

Next up for the streaking Minutemen (7-4) is a Division III Regional Semifinal showdown against #6 Sandusky (7-4) who upset #3 Bay 34-14 on the road in their quarterfinal matchup.
