Wooster Toughs Out Win At Mansfield
A gritty road win for the Wooster Lady Generals at Mansfield Senior kept their OCC title defense hopes alive, defeating the Lady Tygers 50-46 inside Pete Henry Gymnasium.
With senior standout Macyn Siegenthaler leading the charge, Wooster delivered a big punch in the opening quarter by running out to an 8-0 advantage and led 14-7 heading into the second. The Lady Tygers would then close the gap to 21-16 by the half, despite shooting just 6-29 from the floor in the first two frames.
Led by senior Jayjahnae Feagin and freshman Skyy Montgomery, Senior High would come roaring back in the third to claim the lead at 36-33 by the end of the third quarter. The final eight minutes would go back and forth until the last minute where the Lady Generals pulled away with clutch free throws and defensive stops to seal a conference victory.
Siegenthaler ended the night 7-14 from the field with a game-high 20 pts and 8 steals for Wooster while her freshman teammates Nora Levy had 9 pts and 3 assists, and Abbi Jones added 8 pts and 5 rebounds.
Feagin led the Lady Tygers with 14 pts and 9 rebs while her freshman frontcourt mate Montgomery put up 12 and 11, and Dakiyah White scored a dozen pts.
