Wooster Gets By Tygers For 9-0 In OCC

The Wooster Generals remained undefeated in Ohio Cardinal Conference play with a season sweep of Mansfield Senior, taking a 54-51 victory over the reeling Tygers in front of their home crowd.

The contest was competitive from the opening tip, with Mansfield (4-8, 3-5) holding a 16-15 edge after the first quarter before an 11-2 Wooster (13-1) run built the biggest lead of the game for either side at 23-16. The Tygers would find their footing to close the halftime deficit down to 31-26 with a 10-3 run of their own then slowly chipped away in the second half.

With Shad Creamer scoring a game-best 17 points, the Tygers inched closer to within 44-40 by the start of the fourth and outscored the Generals 14-13 in the final frame, but could never overtake Wooster for the lead. A balanced Wooster offensive attack kept Mansfield at bay with three players getting into double-figure scoring as they improved to 9-0 on the season in conference play.

Brayden Hamilton led the Generals with 15 pts on 4-9 FG's, while Reece Mitchell went 4-8 for 14 pts and Ezra McKee added 11. Roger Merrell III joined Creamer in double-figures for the Tygers with 10 pts, followed by Davin Brown with seven and six from Trevin Hines.
