Lady Flames Take OCSAA Tourney Opener
A 50-34 win at Clark Court will send Mansfield Christian to the 2nd Round of the OCSAA Tournament who defeated Open Door Christian to advance.
Both teams struggled to score in the game's first quarter that finished 5-4 and MC in front before the Lady Flames used a 15-3 scoring run in the second for a 20-11 halftime lead. A 21 point barrage would sink the Patriots chances in the third where eight Mansfield Christian field goals put some distance on the scoreboard at 41-17.
Eight Lady Flames scored at least three points to earn a slot in the next round, led by Elle Schmitz with 12, Alexis Ripple added nine with Aubryn Mayer contributing eight and Noelle Beare put up six. MC held leading scorer Emily McClain to a dozen points for Open Door, nine points below her season average of 21 ppg. The Patriots only put four players in the scorebook with the top scorer being Hannah Demange.
