The Mansfield Senior Tygers and Lucas Cubs both enjoyed Thanksgiving morning practices as they
prepare for State Semifinal contests this weekend.


The 12-1 Tygers make its first Division 3 Semifinal appearance after defeating Sandusky 15-9 in a
Region 10 Championship overtime thriller in which they blocked an extra point in regulation and a field
goal in overtime to help them advance.


Mansfield Senior will face 13-0 Aurora, who won the Region 9 championship as the #4 seed. The
Greenmen defeated #5 Steubenville 27-21 in the first round before upsetting #1 New Philadelphia 34-17
in the region semi's. Aurora then trailed #6 Chardon 19-8 at halftime of the final before scoring two
unanswered touchdowns in the second half to advance.


The Tygers and Greenmen will play on Friday night at 7:00 PM at Nordonia High School for a spot in
next weekend's Division 3 State Championship.

The 11-2 Cubs jumped out to a 14-0 halftime lead in its Region 25 Final over Cuyahoga Heights before
the Redskins answered with 13 points to cut the lead to one. The Cubs later extended its lead to 21-13 in
the fourth quarter then forced a Redskins fumble on the Lucas 1 yard line with time running out to clinch
the victory.


Lucas will face 12-1 Harvest Prep, who won the Region 27 crown as the top-seed. The Warriors handled
#8 Fisher Catholic 37-7 in the opening round before defeating #4 Waterford 35-21 in the semis. They
then needed a touchdown with less than 30 seconds left in the game to defeat #2 Newark Catholic 22-15
and advance to Saturday.


The Cubs and Warriors will play on Saturday night at 7:00 PM at DeSales High School for a spot in next
Saturday's Division 7 State Championship.
