Feagin Lifts Lady Tygers Over Mt. Vernon

Mansfield Senior got above .500 for the season with a 48-35 win over visiting Mount Vernon at Pete Henry Gymnasium in OCC play.

The Lady Tygers took control of the game right from the opening tip, leading wire to wire behind senior forward Jayjahnae Feagin who scored seven of her game-best 21 points in the first as Senior High built a 14-6 advantage. Mansfield scored 14 more in the second as they increased their lead to 28-18 by the half, holding the Yellow Jackets to just three field goals in the opening half.

Mount Vernon played their best stretch in the third, outscoring the Lady Tygers 9-8 in the stanza, but would fail to score a single basket in the fourth. The Yellow Jackets did go to the foul line 35 times in the contest but made just 23 attempts (65%), as Mansfield Senior put the game away with a late trio of hoops, including a dagger triple from Feagin.

Skyy Montgomery contributed with eight Lady Tygers points while Moriah Lawhorn added seven to go along with Feagin's big night. Eight Mount Vernon players would score with Brynn Elliott and Celina Fritsch leading the way with six each.
