 St. Peter's  vs  Lucas

Mid Buckeye Conference Boys Basketball

Cubs Rip Spartans For 13-0 Start

State-ranked Lucas kept their perfect record intact, improving to 13-0 with a 40-29 slugfest win over Mid-Buckeye Conference rival St. Peter's at the Cub Cave.

Senior forward Jonah Ramey carried the Spartans offensively throughout the night, scoring six of his game-high 18 points in the opening quarter but the Cubs would hold a 12-8 advantage heading into the second. St. Peter's would then outduel Lucas 14-8 in the frame to take a surprising halftime lead on the 4th-ranked team in Division IV at 22-20.

A stale offensive third saw the Spartans notch just two points, as they played ball control but fell behind 28-24 to begin the final eight minutes of play where a 12-5 Cubs run would put St. Peter's away for the double-digit victory.

Riley Gossom put up 17 points to lead the Cubs who received eight each from both Ethan Sauder and Ethan Wallace while Logan Niswander was held to just three points.

Only four Spartans would score in the game as they fell to 3-10, 2-5 in MBC play.
