Mapleton Plays Crestview To A Draw

An aggressive start for Mapleton, striking first with an early goal helped the Mounties play to a 3-3 draw with undefeated Crestview at John E. Camp Stadium.

Sophomore Cacie Stalnaker scored a pair of Mapleton goals in the opening half, giving the Mounties a 1-0 edge at the 33:56 mark then sent the match into the half tied at 2-2 when she struck again just 54 seconds before the break. Mary Leeper and Emily Fry found the back of the net less than two minutes apart at the 12:15 and 10:24 mark to account for the Cougars first half scoring.

Mapleton regained the lead on a Sydney Abbruzzese break away that put the home team on top 3-2 with 19:42 left in the match and it appeared the Mounties would stun Crestview as they held on to their edge until the final six minutes. Fry then broke loose for the equalizer with 5:48 remaining to force the tie and keep the Lady Cougars unbeaten streak intact.

Crestview (8-0-1) will next play at Port Clinton while Mapleton (3-3-3) will host Lake Ridge Academy.
