CRESTLINE

vs  MANSFIELD CHRISTIAN

Flames Hold Off Crestline In Sectionals

After losing to Crestline twice during the regular season, #9 Mansfield Christian got some sweet revenge over their Mid-Buckeye Conference rivals with a 50-46 victory against the #8 Bulldogs in the Division IV Shelby Sectional semifinals.

A blazing second quarter helped ignite the Flames who built an 8-6 first quarter lead before outscoring Crestline 19-9 the following frame for a 27-15 halftime advantage.

The third quarter then belonged to the Bulldogs with senior forward Lauryn Tadda recording her 1,000th career point as she dropped seven of her game-high 21 in the stanza to help Crestline pull to within 34-39 by the start of the fourth.

Mansfield Christian would be challenged over the final eight minutes, allowing the Bulldogs to even the score but never gave up the lead. Numerous missed free throws down the stretch by the Flames would keep the contest interesting, but they would hold off the Dogs to advance into the sectional finals.

Daija Sewell joined Tadda in double-figure scoring with 11 while a trio of Bulldogs added four points each.

Seven different Flames scored at least four points, led by Alexis Rippel's 11, Elle Schmitz and Aubrynn Maiyer each posted eight and both Bri Keib and Raelyn Todd scored seven each.

Mansfield Christian advances to face #1 Seneca East for the Shelby Sectional Championship.
