Crestline Beats St. Peter's 41-35
It had been a while since Crestline last defeated St. Peter's in boy's basketball but the Bulldogs would pull out a 41-35 victory over the Spartans on their home floor in Mid-Buckeye Conference action.
Fueled by a strong opening quarter from Spencer Harley who scored six of his nine points in the stanza, Crestline led for most of the night as they outscored St. Peter's 11-6 in the first and held a 16-11 advantage at the half. Eli Gurski would then get hot for the Spartans in the third, scoring all 11 of his points in the frame to help the visiting Spartans take a 30-29 edge into the final stanza.
A solid defensive effort by the Bulldogs would help seal the win as they held St. Peter's to single-digits in the quarter for the third time in the contest, outscoring the Spartans 12-5 in the fourth with Ethan Clark scoring six of his team-best 16 in the frame to secure a rivalry victory.
Shawn Perkins-Harris led all scorers with 18 St. Peter's points while Jonah Ramey was held to just four. Calvin Reed contributed with seven for Crestline who got five from Connor Lusk, including a big triple in the closing minutes that gave the Bulldogs the lead for good.
The win marks the third for Crestline (3-4) in four tries following an 0-3 start while the Spartans (2-6) suffer their third consecutive defeat.
