Eagles Land District Title Over Eastwood
Colonel Crawford's senior captains finally broke through to claim a District Championship, taking a bruising 37-30 victory over Pemberville Eastwood in the Division III Norwalk final after finishing as runners-up each of the past three seasons.
Defense set the tone for both teams to start the game which featured just nine points in the opening quarter with Eastwood on top 5-4. Crawford held the Eagles to just five more points in the second period as they took a slim 12-10 advantage into the locker room at halftime.
Led by senior guard Jordan Fenner, Crawford made their move in the third. Eastwood managed just two points as Fenner poured in eight of his game-best 19 to boost C.C.'s lead to 24-12 entering the last eight minutes of gameplay. With 18 fourth quarter points, Eastwood would make a strong push down the stretch that forced Crawford to ice it from the free throw line, but the Eagles would sink 9-13 attempts in the frame to lock up the title.
Fenner was the only player to score in double-figures while Crawford teammate Reis Walker added six points, Chase Walker had four and both Mason Studer and Gavin Feichtner chipped in with three each.
Isaac Badenhop and Jacob Myers both scored eight points to lead Eastwood who ends their season at 18-7.
At 23-3, Colonel Crawford now advances with a school record for wins to the Bowling Green Regional.
