Clear Fork vs Lexington
Colts Trample Lexington 43-16
Behind South's BIG Performance
The Clear Fork Colts got off to a hot start in their Richland County showdown at Lexington and would roll to a 43-16 victory on the road.
Halfway through the first quarter, Clear Fork scored their first touchdown on a 32-yard pass from Brennan South to Ashton Lyon. On the first play of the second quarter, the Colts made their way to the end zone again on a 5-yard run by Elijah Hughes, putting the score at 14-0.
Lexington had a chance to get on the board, but a Kaydan Berry rushing touchdown was wiped off the board because of a holding penalty, then South picked off Cole Pauley at the 1-yd line on the next play.
Clear Fork later scored on a 16-yard TD grab by Jackson Myer to put their lead at 21-0 before Lexington returned the ensuing kickoff for a touchdown, but again had points taken off the board due to an illegal block. A 30-yard field goal gave the Minutemen their first points of the contest with 2:04 remaining before the half, but with 1:44 left, the game was delayed due to lightning.
Officials then made the call to postpone until 10 A.M. on Saturday, where the Colts picked up right where they left off.
South tossed a pair of third-quarter scores to Lyons and Hughes to put Clear Fork ahead 35-3, as they capitalized on 5 Lexington turnovers in the contest. The Minutemen put together back to back scoring drives to trim the deficit to 35-16 early in the fourth but a 41-yard strike from South to Tacoma Orr put the nail in the coffin as Brennan finished with a career-best 5 TD passes.
