Veteran Eagles Looking For Drive On The Diamond

NORTH ROBINSON -- It's been a long wait for head coach Dan Gorbett and his flock of Eagles to begin their district title defense, but Colonel Crawford is back on the diamond for the start of the 2021 season.

The Eagles were considered among the favorites to win a state championship last year but a global pandemic put an end to their 2020 season before it ever began. Several talented players still remain on the roster, including 4-year letterman Drayton Burkhart, Cade Hamilton and Brock Ritzhaupt, but it remains to be seen if the nucleus of seniors have what it takes to lead their squad to a successful season.

Gorbett says that he hasn't seen the same type of intensity that his club brought to the field in 2019, but is hopeful they can find that extra gear once they get into the meat of the season.
