Clear Fork Wins 1st League Crown Since 2002
The boys’ basketball squad put an end to a 17-year drought in the Clear Fork valley by claiming the programs first league championship since 2002 with a 58-46 win over Marion Harding.
The victory earned the Colts (17-4, 11-2) at least a share of the MOAC title as their four seniors played at home for the final time in their high school careers. A.J. Blubaugh, Jared Schaefer, Gannon Seifert and Jay Swainhart combined for 37 Clear Fork points to help clinch the league crown in front of their home fans on senior night.
Clear Fork led wire to wire, charging out to a 13-3 advantage and maintained their cushion throughout the rest of the contest. Dejuan Smith did his part for the Presidents, dropping a game-high 21 points to go along with 13 from Mitch Myers, but behind their quartet of seniors and Brennan South’s 15 points the Colts were rarely challenged.
