Lucas Cage Crestline To Remain Undefeated
The defending Mid-Buckeye Conference champion Lucas Cubs remain undefeated on the season with a 71-55 victory over league foe Crestline at the Cub Cave.
The Bulldogs entered the contest as winners of five straight but would fall behind 19-8 after the opening quarter with leading scorer Kaden Ronk being held without a basket. Ronk finished with just six points in the game while Cubs standout Logan Niswander dropped 11 of his game-best 22 in the second quarter to help build a 36-20 halftime edge.
Crestline would play more competitively in the second half, scoring 17 points in the third and 14 more in the fourth but Lucas would match the Dogs stride for stride. Riley Gossom poured in a dozen of his 21 in the final two frames while Ethan Wallace added 11 to push the Cubs unbeaten mark to 9-0.
Crestline (6-5) put three players in double-figures with Calvin Reed and Spencer Harley each netting 13 and Ethan Clark chipped-in with 10.
Lucas (9-0) will host Mansfield Christian before heading to Crestline for a rematch with the Bulldogs.
