Centerburg Homers Past Northmor 5-2

NORTH BLOOMFIELD --- The Centerburg Lady Trojans avenged a 10-6 loss to the Northmor Lady Knights on Monday with a 5-2 victory at Northmor H.S.

The Lady Trojans struck first in the top of the first, but the Lady Knights immediately answered in the bottom to even the game at 1 where it would remain until the top of the third when Amilia Smith hit a one-out solo home run off the scoreboard. Allie Beekman then followed three batters later with a two-run shot to left-center field to extend the lead to 4-1.

Northmor had multiple chances to cut into the lead, but baserunning errors stifled the effort. They would finally cut into the lead in the bottom of the 6th at 4-2, but Centerburg immediately answered with a run in the top of the seventh.

Beekman took Player-of-the-Game honors going 2-for-3 with the 2-run home run which proved to be the difference in the game.
