NORTHMOR - The Cardington Pirates withheld a late Northmor Golden Knight run to win its third game in a row 58-49.

 

The Pirates (4-1, 3-1 KMAC) used a late first quarter run to build its lead to 13 after eight minutes 19-6.

 

The Golden Knights (1-5, 1-3 KMAC) then answered with a late run before the half to cut the lead to ten at 31-21 at the break, but turnovers in the third quarter helped the Pirates build its lead back up to 45-29.

 

Northmor added a late surge in the fourth to cut the lead to single digits, but ran out of time as the Pirates were able to hit their free throws down the stretch.

 

The Pirates had three scorers in double figures as Trey Brininger led all scorers with 19 points. Nathan Hickman scored 17 points and Avery Harper added 15 points.

 

The Golden Knights were led by Graesin Cass, who led the team with 16 points while Logan Mariotti followed with 9 points.
