Barons Big Inning Fuels Triumph At Ontario
Buckeye Valley overcame a challenging start on the road at Ontario with a 5-2 come from behind win over the defending MOAC champs.
Despite sending heavy traffic onto the base paths over the first few innings, the Barons failed to get on the board against Warriors starter Andrew Cacchio until coming alive with a four-run rally in the fifth. Ontario would lead 2-0 at that point on RBI from Caden Armstrong and Cade Thompson in the bottom halves of the second and third, but would not cross the plate again.
Senior pitcher Ben Atiyeh went the distance for Buckeye Valley, allowing 2 runs on 4 hits and 3 walks with 4 strikeouts, while also batting 2-2 from the dish with an RBI and 2 walks. Evan Ulrich added 3 RBI for the Barons during a 2-3 hitting performance that included a run scored.
The win puts Buckeye Valley at 5-4, 3-1 while the Warriors dip to 4-4, 2-4.
