Wooster Tames Tygers For Piece Of OCC Title

A dominant second half performance by Wooster at Arlin Field secured the Generals at least a share of the OCC championship with a 27-7 win over Mansfield Senior.

Following a battle for field position in the opening quarter, the Tygers would draw first blood on a 2 yard touchdown run by Amajeon Robertson early in the second stanza. Wooster shook off a turnover deep in Senior High territory by forcing a take away of their own and cashed it in for a Brayden Taylor 8 yard TD scamper to knot things up at 7-7 heading into the half.

The final two quarters were completely dominated by the Generals, who on a cold, rainy night relied on their run game and defense to capture a road victory. Wooster only attempted one pass the entire second half as they chewed up 225 yards and 3 scores on the ground with senior QB Dylan Dagley leading the charge with 106 yds & 2 TD’s on 15 carries.

The Generals defense forced 5 Tygers turnovers in the game, intercepting Cam Todd three times in the final two frames to keep Mansfield at bay, holding Senior High to 261 total yards to their 366. The win by Wooster at Arlin Field is their 7th in 8 meetings since they became OCC rivals in 2003.

Wooster (6-2, 5-0) will next take their 5-game win streak back home to face Firelands (1-6) while Mansfield Senior (3-5, 1-3) will host Mount Vernon (3-5).
