Tygers Swat Jackets 34-14
After suffering their only loss of the season last week, Mansfield Senior bounced back with a dominating win at Mount Vernon, swatting the Yellow Jackets 34-14 at Energy Field.
The Tygers built a 14-0 advantage less than two minutes into the contest with Cyrus Ellerbe making a 68-yard house call on the opening kickoff, followed by a 93-yard Angelo Grose TD off a jet sweep on Senior High's first offensive play.
Amajeon Robertson made the score 21-0 on a 5-yard TD run later in the 1st quarter, then put Mansfield up 28-zip with 4:33 remaining in the half when he dove over the pile from 1-yard out into the end zone. Mount Vernon would get on the board with just 33 seconds left before halftime as Wyatt Gregory scampered in for a 9-yard TD run to make it 28-7.
Midway through the third, Cam Todd connected with Aveon Grose for a 9-yard TD to extend the Tygers advantage to 34-7 before taking their foot off the gas. Gregory would find the end zone one more time with 7:42 to play, capping off a 41 carry, 240-yard performance.
Todd finished 8-13 for 226 yds and 2 TD's with Angelo catching 5 balls for 193 yds and a score. Terrance Flickinger had 101 rush yds on 17 car, Robertson had 34 yds and 2 TD's on 10 car.
Mansfield Senior (8-1) clinched a playoff spot with the victory and will finish up their regular season at home against cross-city rival Madison (0-9). Mount Vernon (5-4) heads to West Holmes (3-6) in Week 10.
